On Gubbio’s evocative Franciscan Trail, along which Italy’s most beloved Saint roamed 800 years ago, common folk and famous stars stop in to see Cosimo, a colourful character whose fellow citizens (as well as others) call the “wayfarers’ poet”. The restaurant, the Ristoro del Turista, is run by Cosimo and his entire family: his four charming children and young and active wife whose talent in the kitchen produces genuine homemade dishes. Fine wines and poems spread all about the dining room accompany the meal, with Cosimo enthusiastically reciting poetry to an eager audience. The famous actor Terence Hill, of the locally shot Don Matteo series, is often there with friends. Only at the Turista will you be able to dine and listen to the poetry of Cosimo Vento from his book “I Semi dell’Amore” – The Seeds of Love.

How to get there: From Gubbio, follow the direction for Perugia-Rome. After about 10 km, you will find the restaurant on the left side of the road.
